Mark Meadows, his Chief of Staff, said the same thing. So, explain to me what this march on the capital, two months after Trump lost the election, was all about? Now explain to me why, when the insurrection turned violent, he didn't call them off. Why did he wait three hours?

  27.  @bamahama707  McCarthy didn't allow witnesses to testify at Trump's impeachment trial. A "day in court" requires a courtroom. The sham Senate "trial" had a predetermined outcome so no jeopardy was involved. You need to take a civics refresher course. Night school perhaps.

Notice it does not say "convicted of insurrection".

Jefferson Davis and other Confederates were barred from running for public office under the 14th Amendment, and none were even charged with insurrection. The 14th Amendment was written at a time when there wasn't even a crime called "insurrection". The term was meant to be taken in the generally understood meaning of the word."
