Prior to becoming unionized, it was suggested workers should "volunteer" to do work at the job foreman's house, do painting, etc. in order to stay on his good side. It came in handy should there be a down time when workers were laid off. The "volunteers" would be the one's who were guaranteed to get their job back. When the union came in, all that went away. So, skip the stupid comments. You obviously don't know what the f**k you are talking about.
