Regarding "leftists" losing sight on what really matters, acting more like faux outrage TMZ "reporters"..
Come on. She can handle herself. She's highly intelligent and knows what she's doing. It's not like wealthy people haven't tried several times on her, already.. no need to get worked up by a dress - the MET is in NY, and it's common for NY representatives to attend - and she used that situation to her advantage. The gala is in fact after all a fundraising event, so people can visit the Metropolitan museum free of any charges. Her policies aren't about villifying the rich and wealthy at all, it's simply and common sensically about having them PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE of taxes which they now barely even do at all. If her attending some fancy events and meeting celebrities and wealthy people would somehow persuade her into going corrupt, she would've been corrupted a long time ago, but she's not.
Like.. I don't see anybody b!tching about Bernie Sanders being both progressive and wealthy. People really be acting like it's impossible to hold on to your values, morals, core beliefs and principles. She's literally just logically believing in and advocating for fair tax rates FOR ALL, as opposed to now where social welfare is payed TO the wealthiest for all kinds of things BY the poor and ever-dying/shrinking middle class. She understands that that is not an equitable, reasonable, fair or equitable taxing system. It makes no sense for the poorest among us to pay THE MOST without ever recieving ANYTHING from those taxes, but have to see that hard earned money given back to the wealthy and corporations - and the same wealthy people and corporations pay FAR, FAR LESS percentage and actual income wise, yet somehow still benefit the most off of others who can't even afford basic necessities. Now that's infuriating. It's not about taxing the rich "just to add on more taxes" or whatever, the issue is that the system is entirely broken and turned on it's head. That's what AOC and progressives wants to change asap, as literally every single person would greatly benefit from it, but no.. now that's impossible due to corruption and greed.. the wealthy are exploiting the actual, representative population's work, health, needs, practically every single apsect of their entire being is fully exploited. They just ensure that they buy enough politician's votes, so the government put in place, FOR the people, BY the people, OF the people, will favorize their corrupt and greedy donors instead of the people at large. But then to also having all these money-grabbing, power hungry and selfish politicians willing to sell out the interests of their country and constituents to buy political power is so incredibly anti-democracy, and it NEEDS to stop.
AOC is the least of the problem - she truly is a part of the solution. People focuse way too much on finding ANYTHING to critisize her for - both from people on the right AND left. Yet she's one of the few people, among the rest of the progressives who actually fight for equality, equity, fairness and justice. It's a GOOD thing for her to bring attention to that problem in a unique way - it got people talking, right? Now people have been FORCED to talk about taxing the rich, AOC and the progressive movement. It got people engaged. If there's one thing the left and the right can agree on, is that we all HATE corruption and money in politics. That's partly why the right wing (and sadly many so called "moderate" aka conservative or corporate democrats) are constantly desperate to nitpick their every move, actions, speech, LITERALLY ANYTHING - they KNOW that policy wise, the vaaaast majority of all americans across ALL party lines and non/apolitical people fully agrees with progressive agendas, so they CONSTANTLY fight against the progressive movement/FORCES to try to deligitimaze them.. they KNOW that progressive policies are the most popular and effective ones, but the ruling class are afraid of losing their rigged, corrupt ultimate power, rule and status quo designed to only benefit them, and them alone. Aaand because of course AOC being a young, intelligent woman of color, who's incredibly popular, she's an easy target to focus on. They are so afraid of her and the rest of the progressives, so they continue fighting her and the movement she's a big part of, so the greedy and corrupted can continue taking advantage of and exploiting the majority to continue their corrupted power at the expense of the voters, the workers, the everyone, THE PEOPLE. She's a disrupting force to the status quo rigged in the favour of them, the smallest minority with no ends to their wicked, destructive, corrupted ways. There's no end to how far they're willing to go to ensure they'll always be the ruling class, no matter how authoritarian their methods. Power is all to them, and they don't like "disrupters" like AOC, to put it mildly.. so why should we also be overly critical of her every move, as if doing just that doesn't distract from the real issues? Getting pressed about her attenting a Met Galla in a unique, tho stupidly "controversial" dress sparking a conversation about the very real, common sensical and tangible message? Getting pressed about that is sooo useless and silly, the left can get so cynical at times, jeez. Expecting that from the right is obivious, but the true left must stop eating their own. Hold people accountable? Absolutely. This, tho... just goes too far, and it helps nobody. Focus on what matters, don't get caught up getting overly critical, cynical and reactive where that's not in any way warranted. It's pathetic and hysterical. Don't get it twisted. She won't lose her principles by attending an high end galla in a dress with an appropriate and relevant message. If you think so, then you're hella underestimating her intelligence and integrity. Don't worry about an event or a donated dress, worry about her message. Imagine if everyone redirected their attention, focus and anger away from the superficial aspects here to the actual message itself... now THAT could help truly move the needle in the right way, instead of wasting time moaning about what matters the very least.
Ughh, my goodness, the theathre outrage and hysteria says a whole big lot more about them and their integrity than hers. Don't lose sight on what really matters. Seriously, this is pathetic.
