@niriop no. In Western culture heterosexual men will sodomize other men as a tool of humiliation in particular contexts. This doesn't make the act commonplace in the West. People in the West will mutilate their tongues and ears within certain tiny niches. In War time collecting body parts of enemy combatants is relatively common among Westerners. None of this is commonplace or widely acceptable but are motivated by ritual. They are widely spaced out incidents that occur among tiny groups as a ritualistic gesture. Regarding Arens claiming cannibalism never occurred historically, I think it's more likely you misunderstood him.

@mikicerise6250 Historians say accounts of cannibalism in the Caribbean by Conquistadors might have been exaggerated. No one has ever said these things didn't take place in Mesoamerica or the Caribbean.
