@dennisg4053 make the following test: Fill a bucket with water and then try to spill it on a target 6 yards away... easy isn't it? Now take a towel and lay it over the bucket, fix it on the sides and now try again hitting that target 6 feet away. Masks are used to decrease the range of dropplets you exhale (remember that white mist coming out of your mouth on a cold day? That are frozen fluid dropplets) Are they perfect, nope, but they help

@dopeskaterat95 every infectious desease is reliant on other hosts to spread before the body can fight it of. The more densely populated an area is, the easier to find a possibility for infection, and one is enough for the virus to survive another cycle (that's why crowded cities are more vulnerable than rural areas) Every gathering poses a risk you would not have if you would stay apart. The problem is not to make Sars-2-Cov compatible with a semi normal lifestyle, it's the people that act irrationally and by that exposing ALL OTHERS to a high risk Lock downs are the answer to human carelessness

The problem : the infections are right now exponentially rising, and if not stopped could reach 50k per day mid October (then the system would collapse)
