@allegro9932 I'm not white. There is a whole continent where the majority people are African/black and therefore standards of beauty are black. In Europe there is a different heritage and different standards of beauty have been inherited. No black person in Europe has been dragged here and they have no right to make native Europeans feel guilty for being themselves in their own land. If it it intolerable there are choices.

@allegro9932 I think European colonisation of Africa was a bad thing for many Africans but the legacy is mixed. I don't see any African leaders wanting to reverse industrialisation and return to the pre-European era which would in fact be for large tracts of Africa involve Arab colonisation. However, it is truly pathetic to say Africans can do nothing a century later with all the tools they were left with to make something of their lands and societies. And btw the issue you raised was about black people being 'forced' to imitate European hair. Truly feeble. Unfortunately, anyone living in modern Europe and particularly in the Anglosphere is affected by the grievance ideologies which have captured many. If you are not in the UK, then why are you commenting on a UK programme which focusses on UK society?

@allegro9932 I'm not of Portuguese or Spanish decent. So you came to the UK from Africa and now want to make your sense of displacement the problem of the native peoples. It is your problem and you have to do the work on yourself. I say you don't know what you're talking about you have no idea what white Europeans in Europe think or feel but if they don't want to be African, I guess that shows itself by their decision not to go there. I have all sorts of experiences you clearly can't guess at.

@Cope Bestie I do rather think that those continents were stolen from the original peoples, yes. A small point, because you see television and film BAME actors playing roles in Victorian and Tudor Britain does not make the reality change. It does of course presage the ambition to make the lie the fact. What did Goebbels say - if you make a lie big enough and repeat it enough, people will believe it.

@Cope Bestie So many seem to be unclear on the matter themselves. One minute proud of their distinctive non-European heritage, claiming special privileges based on the distinction and then talking about the evils done to "them" by Europeans in the past. Beyond that it all depends on the dimensions or contexts of the discussion.
