Another interesting video. Symonite vessels were a new one on me so I'm glad I'm not quite as ignorant about them as I was before.The USN before WWII was really quite conservative, and convincing the admirals that the monoplane was going to become the dominate aircraft type over biplanes was a hard sell. Once the realities of war, especially the Japanese, hit, the USN embarked on whole lines of aircraft that had successful transitions from carrier to land based, The F4U Corsair, A1D Skyraider, and F8F Bearcat are three that come to mind. The RN did it more in reverse, adapting land based planes like the Spitfire and Hurricane. I can't think of a single FAA plane that made the transition to RAF service. The Blackburn Firebrand with a proper engine may have made it to an RAF strike fighter role but that's the only one I can think of
