@davelocktalk Well it ain't Russia's fault they had to break that promise. The USA broke multiple promises for NATO not to expand eastwards. If Ukraine joins NATO, that means the USA can put their nukes on Russia's border. Would you want Russian nukes on the US border? Do you want another cold war?
15
@heidiw3615 The bottom line is they cannot join NATO. The USA promisesd and has been breaking that promise for the last 30 years.
15
@anameidonthave7957 Ukraine wasn't part of nato. So the USA cant put THEIR nuclear weapons and military bases in Ukraine, right on Russia's border.
11
@anameidonthave7957 Imagine if Canada joined the Russian alliance. The USA would immediately invade British Columbia in order to gain land access to Alaska.
9
Selfish? Indont think it's selfish at all to protect your people from enemy nuclear weapons right on your borders
7
@anameidonthave7957 And I said if Ukraine joins nato, that means the USA can put their nukes on Russia's borders. What do you not get? Do you want Russian nukes on YOUR border?
7
@larrygaroth9773 Joining NATO is not a choice. There was a promise for nato not to expand eastward past east Germany. And nato has continually broken that promise which leads to the conflict today.
6
@davelocktalk You cant critically think. Would you rather have one area of vulnerability or two places? The arctic sea has thousands of sonar listening posts to check for any submarine activity. At this point Russia is practically surrounded and backed into a corner.
5
@Lopiok Terrance You need to respect Russia's legitimate border security concerns. NATO expanded eastward 5 times. You can't just corner a mother bear defending its cubs without severe consequences.
4
@lanouek Totally agree with you. But Russia does have legitimate national security concerns too.
3
@Its_Hero lets put it this way. If Mexico decided to join Russia amd allows them to install their military bases right along the US border. Would the USA be okay with that?
3
@Julie Love What?
2
@larrygaroth9773 Lower reaction time boi. No time for. Missile defense systems to activate
2
@davelocktalk Think about it. What advantages would a missile based close to a taget have compared to across the ocean?
2
@ianhomerpura8937 What if Mexico or cuba suddenly decided to join Russia and have military bases along the US border? Like you said "it's their decision".
2
@Its_Hero no but if Ukraine joins nato then they will have American nukes or military bases at the very least stationed there since the USA already has their military bases in almost every nato country.
2
@larrygaroth9773 it's great they were denied. lets keep it that way. Buffer nations exist for a reason.
2
@TheLuuuuuc Really? Just like how the USA invaded the middle east multiple times?
2
@Slavaisusukhrystu back when the Soviet Union collapsed
2
@GallantNite Would you rather have 20 minutes to react to a nuke, or 2 minutes to react to one?
2
@joeydoherty368 Did the USA say they were gonna put nukes in Turkey?
1
@joeydoherty368 The US has military bases in all NATO countries.
1
@joeydoherty368 Would you like have Russian military bases stationed in Canada, Cuba, and Mexico?
1
@Killjoy0329 One is fresh water, another is border security, third, Russia does not want Ukraine to become a petrol state as that would be extremely bad for Russia's already declining economy
1
@blistering2900 Russia never threatened anyone of nuclear war. They just had higher vigilance.
1
@shanehunat2364 Would you rather have 30 minutes to react to a nuke, or 2 minutes to react to one? Do you realize the difference in deaths?
1
@SuperScooter301 Well not actually. The majority support led the US invasions of the middle east
1
@fab that's not possible because then Ukraine falls under the US nuclear umbrella.
1
@dr.vikyll7466 they did. Not a formal one but they did
1
@Its_Hero its not whataboutism it's blatant hypocrisy.
1
@blistering2900 Russia never threatened anyone with nukes.
