  1. Regime change has never been popular that is why it has been the go-to for the USA (and France, Britain) as it's the only way for them achieve their objectives by overriding the wishes of the majority. Just ask the natives.

The wishes of the Ukrainian people evidently do not matter otherwise the USA and the EU would not have couped the Ukrainian government chosen democratically through elections, in addition to reneging on their subsequent commitments to ending the civil war between the central government and the breakaway republics of Lugansk and Donetsk.
