Cain Raby - Only people who are in Parliament (as in elected by the people) should be allowed in such a debate. This means no Farage.

stonemere - Running away from once obligations does not solve anything as the UK will then get sued. WTO are the lowest and worst possible trading conditions. Only Mauritania trades exclusively under WTO. All other member states made better arrangements and treaties at least with their closest trading partners.

Tess Tickle Exactly as this is a withdrawal agreement. The trade treaty negotiations will take about 6 year. This is the amount of time it took with Canada and this deal was much simpler as it involved far less. So we can look forward to interesting years to come. But when I see the deeply divided Tories who love to fight with each other and have no majority for anything Brexit related it might take 12 years.

Rew West dubling - Nice to see a minority view represented here. The overwhelming majority in Ireland are pro EU.
4
Answets in Reality - Anyone who thought this would not be a withdrawal agreement and about losing believed the Brexit brigade and their empty promises.

@jonfairhurst71 The UK exports to its largest market are 48%. About 90% of British exports profits from EU agreements or trade treaties. The EU exports 8% into the UK. Not to mention that most cars that are assembled in the UK have 60% parts from the EU. Nissan alone needs 3 million parts a day and they have reserves for half a day. So without a constant just in time delivery everything stops.

This is based on a gut feeling or a study? If it is based on a study be so kind to share it. I am a bit surprised about the assumption they made and what evidence (if any) they provide.
2
Paul Kaitel - Well as they have zero MP's right now this will be interesting how to get a majority in Parliament any time soon.

@narendra62 How many jobs are in one confident nation as the foreign company with their investment and jobs move to the EU single market in which they invested? The reason for choosing the UK was it was the most neo-liberal country with low rights for worker and so on. So they will move on in parts or as a whole to be part of the market they invested in and produce for.
1
Tbiz s - This is a withdrawal agreement and it is about the details of the UK leaving. Leaving is about losing, but people were told stories about unicorns.

Carl 123 Everyone voted for in or out and nothing more. Norway is out of the EU and in the EU single market and even Schengen. Switzerland is out but has the four freedoms including the freedom of movement of workers.

@Carl-im9gh It matters what was on the ballot paper. We had all kind of empty promises about having our cake and eat it, that on day one eyerone should be better of, that the UK would keep all benefits for free afterwards, not to mention the prosecco and car poducers that woulf force their government to give the UK a great deal. An oldy but goody is the agreement with the EU in a day. So whatever was not on the ballot paper is irrelevant. Yes we had a lot of fantasies about Brexit and this is why I said two years ago that whatever Brexit will happen every Leaver will be frustrated. The Brexit they dreamed up did will not happen, but some other nobody wanted.

LettersFromBCN The UK becomes a third country after March 2019 with no say and no representation in the EU. We will see what happens to the cut off Island.
1
foxabilo - It said in or out in the referendum the rest is up to parliament. Last time I look Britain as a parliamentary democracy, this means the people vote for representatives that makes these decisions. Norway is out of the EU, but in the single market, Schengen, has the four freedoms.
1
Max Peters The EU trades 1800 billion globally, their is no place they already aren't their and selling stuff.

@maxpeters1929 can you show me any EU document that supports your claim of the role model? Are we talking about a gut feeling or a study that claimed that? If it is a study please give me a link.
1
@maxpeters1929 So your argument has no evidence and a claim without evidence can be dismissed. Thank you for the talk. So Gorbachev had an opinion about something he obviously did not understand. This is a claim he made similar to yours, but this is no evidence.
1
John Woods - This is a withdrawal agreement and it is about settling the account and the details of leaving. Leaving is and always was about losing.
1
Leisure - It is the other way round a lot of trade exists only because of the EU single market and will either die or move into the EU27. A lot of foreign companies and the jobs came into the UK to produce within the EU single market. So they will move on in parts or as a whole.
