  1. Israel gave the Palestinians a practice run at their own state when they evacuated Gaza in 2003, leaving no settlements behind to cause internal friction. The Palestinians subsequently set up a set up mini terrorist state devoted to eternal war, as opposed to embracing detente and taking steps towards a final 2 states.  @Jpliers
