Plenty of stories from before the lockdowns about how locals basically couldn't get into these jobs as they preferred the overseas people. Not much good sooking now that the situation has changed. You can't have it both ways.

Part of the story. Other part is that locals often couldn't get these jobs due to backpackers etc. Plenty of blame on both sides of this argument methinks.

@atomicmillenial9728 I have just lost my job as have a lot of people that I worked with. We were making a great product and making good profits but the current corporate creed of ever more profit took care of us in the end. Not the first time it has happened to me. Fortunately for me I saw it coming many years back and we are ok. Others not so much. I get what you are saying and do empathise with your situation. Unfortunately I don't really see it getting better anytime soon but the ones who work hard and do the right thing will still do the best. Maybe all the crap that is going on atm will result in some industry coming back to this country and people who matter will realize that people need to be earning for the economy to flourish.
