  1. There's a shift in the political landscape. The DPP support has been eroding, and may even lose next year election. There's high unemployment in Taiwan, many Taiwanese who visited mainland China have seen the higher Standard of Living there. 40% of Taiwan's exports flows to China. 10% of Taiwanese works in mainland China due to lack of employment opportunities in Taiwan. Basically Taiwan depends on China now, and more so in the future.
