2:00 Of course not it's the old east, this could hardly have been a surprise to anyone?

@Silver_Prussian The east is to this day poorer than the west. Poverty and feeling left behind has made it a breeding ground for the alt right, and the alt right hate greens.
13
@Silver_Prussian You got that backwards, the people who stay in the east don't like the west. The people who do like the west for the most part move to the west and get work there because it's much richer. The west is somewhat disappointed by the way the east votes though. AFD is way stronger there and progressive parties like the Greens or FDP much weaker.

3:00 She's a woman in Politics, of course a number of allegations have been levelled against her. Remember Hillary Clinton?
5
Shame, the CDU has been in control in Germany for way to long. Their conservative leanings are holding all of the EU back from needed reform.
4
But this was all nothing things. It's Hillary Clinton all over again.
2
Not reaching for reasons to dislike her are you?
2
But this is all nothing... Why do people care?
2
@Silver_Prussian Bavaria hates all of north Germany. That said they are more annoyed at the east since the west is paying a lot of money on helping the east, and like I said Bavarians aren't fond of North Germans to begin with.
2
@Silver_Prussian It's better than anywhere else in the old eastern block. But it's behind west Germany because west Germany is growing so incredibly fast. And the reason it doesn't catch up is the people who have the talent to help it catch up generally just move to the west instead.

It's too late to invest in fission plants. By the time they're finished the climate fight will have either been won or lost.

@nlb4329 Oh yes, the question is if Merkel was good or great.
1
@nlb4329 I can't deny that Germany has been very successful under her leadership. If it is her doing or if it could have been even more successful are up for debate.
1
@nlb4329 As a statesman yes but I really don't agree with all of her political decisions.
1
It's a pity she gets flack for doing the same crap they do on a regular basis.
1
@r_b42 I think that a bit unfair, Hindenburg and von Papen made a bad decision. The regular Germans didn't have much say in the matter short of civil war. Don't get me wrong loads of Germans voted for the nazis but no where near a majority.
1
@fliksc9786 It's a pity the standards are different.
1
@r_b42 A) I agree, well sort of. Without the war I likely wouldn't have been born. But still the burden of that legacy is not easy to bear. B) Oh sorry did not realize it was a joke.
1
What are you talking abut? All this is nonsense, some missed paperwork and then a lot of pretty much groundless allegations.
1
@Sebastian-sd1om It is for politics.
1
@r_b42 Yeah, there are people who support the greens in the old east, they'd be the people who move away from the old east.
1
@dohlecarnett1866 Why should she have to be ultra careful with everything she does? Most other politicians aren't! But since she's a young woman things no one would have cared about if someone else did it becomes unforgivable for her.
1
@nlb4329 Merkel was certainly held to a much higher standard than any other politician. Luckily she was one of the few people who could live up to those standards.
1
She's a woman in politics she'll always be judged to a harsher standard.
1
@dave_sic1365 If you can prove malicious intent maybe but there's no indication this is not as they say it is a mistake.
1
@andreavlis93 What is?
1
@mam0lechinookclan607 Oh yeah certainly. But People aren't always rational actors.
1
6:30 reading between the lines I don't think they took votes from the greens as much as convinced green voters to stay home and mustered the CDU base to vote for the lesser of two evils even if they were not enthusiastic about their own candidate.

@DavidWilliams-DSW558 Do you know what implicit association bias is?
