I'd love to have someone explain me why radar isn't used for edge detection. The difference between pavement and dirt should be easy for radar - easier that using algorithms with a camera, right? And better if various objects are along there that could confuse a camera system. I think it would also be very useful if the edge is covered in snow, especially when it's still snowing. That's my big concern with Tesla going to a vision-only system. There are plenty of small roads where the pavement crumbles into the dirt shoulder, and the shoulder quickly becomes a ditch.
