  1. So many companies do the opposite. Old inefficient parts are used in new models because they already have the dies or molds or they don't want to work on new specs with a subcontractor. They also reason fewer parts need to be stocked for repair - but are doing it from the wrong direction. Their engineers are saddled with a lot of old components and can't innovate for overall efficiency. I know Sandy has complained about this more than once.
