It is incumbant upon the parents to make the very best decisions for their continued welfare, and to make such an enormous upheaval as painless and as distress free as possible

The only instances where the actual gender of the parent may be taken into account, is when the age and sex of the child/children is deemed to be of relevance in regard to the adjudged needs of the child concerned

  19. Logic is logic, and emotion is emotion. You cannot use emotions to, solve a logic problem for example. Emotions may come into play afterwards in how you deal with the result. We should all be capable of this combination, it is what being a person is about. I strongly resent the implication that men are unfeeling 'logic' machines.

It's very convenient for anyone who treats life, and others, as some kind of competition, to be allowed, even encouraged, to simply discount a large group (in this case, women, half the entire population of the planet) out of hand.

In one breath you talk of 'nature/biology', which i would assume is what you profess to base your thinking on?.. Then in your next breath, you contradict the wisdom of said nature, by suggesting that it would be remiss enough to create a species, half of which (the half responsible for the birth and nurture of it's offspring), are little more than ruinous to said species.   34.  @lordexplosionmurderdammit4266  With the exception of one point, i don't disagree with anything in your last comment. I would like very much to see an end to all violence. I doubt this ever happening.. but i can dream. The almost dismissive attitude toward male to male violence is horrific, and can only leave it to perpetuate itself. It most certainly needs to be addressed far more seriously. Where i cannot agree with you, is on the view that in the main, perpetrators of violence between the genders are female. This doesn't tie with any trusted information that i have received, or with anything that life has taught me. I don't doubt that the figures for this disgusting type of behaviour have both genders as aggressors, but i do beg to differ in percentages.

  51.  @legendofthefall7082  Hormones can affect your emotional state, which can lead you to certain behaviours. I don't think that anyone disagrees with that. But these are emotional they do not account for the two genders having different cognitive abilities/levels. For example; two people encounter a seriously injured animal - one may say 'we should put it out of it's misery'.. the other may say ' we should treat it'. Neither one is more correct, both fully understand the situation. It could be argued that the two (if you then throw in that one is female and one male) differ on their solution due to hormone differences between the two, or simply, personality. Whatever the argument you choose, it remains that they both fully understand the situation. This may be a very poor analogy, and my apologies if so, but I'm trying to see where each of us is coming from. Also, I'm more than prepared to have it all wrong (perhaps to do with definitions), and if you are able to point me to any authenticated and approved research studies on this subject, then i thank you and will try to give them some time. :)

The complexity/sophistication of the modern human brain, allows us to do this. Hence it's capability to see/function/behave beyond simple, basic, biological givens. We should use wisely what we are given. We should not insult ourselves by reverting/regressing to a base level in order to condone, continue, or excuse bigotry and ignorance. When we can evolve our societies along with our brain capabilities, we will reach where we ought to be. Then we can concentrate on further and other progressions.

I think they're referring to the rate of weight loss experienced between the two genders; If a man and woman are put on an equivalent diet, (cheating is not a factor lol) the man will lose weight much more quickly than the woman. It presumably levels off after so long, i don't know about that part. This will be due to the difference in the rate of metabolism as you mentioned, and perhaps also due to the amount of water each body holds. What is 'tumblr' please?

It has to be said though, that while both genders are subjected to it, by far the majority of incidences (on either male or female) are perpetrated by males. We quite naturally, and reasonably, therefore, are all more wary of men.

  84.  @kickinrocks6055  That's not really of any use, as that goes for both genders, and indeed, for same gender relationships. Statistics can only tell us what is publicly known. This is why people must rely in degree on their own knowledge and life experiences. Wouldn't it be nice if people stopped being violent towards one another, and therefore rendered all relevant statistics void, rather than the very sad 'contest' which many seem to be drawn into today?

If your statement is based solely on conjecture/belief/anecdote, then there have also been many cases where, based on societies revulsion of a particular crime having been committed by a women, they have received sentence in excess of that for a man committing a similar crime. We must go by actual statistics, which are drawn from each and every case, based on it's individual facts and circumstances. If you know of any such, i would be most interested and grateful to you if you would post any links that you may have.
