@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- 'Besides if the British generals were that good then they would never have begged the Australians to travel from the other side of the world to sort things out. Have you ever heard of British Generals being allowd to beg 'the Australians to travel from the other side of the world to sort things out.' Surely such a request would have had to come from government level? As we all know, Australia had not ratified the Statute of Westminster and therefore went war with Germany on 3rd September 1939, with Italy in June 1940, and with Japan in December 1941. Can anyone supply evidence of the likes of Wavell and O'Connor being allowed to directly contact the Australian government on this matter?
