92% of NZ do not want the Treaty messed with.

@Gumpmachine1 the general lay NZer does not get a say in the agreement as it's between the Crown and Maaori, not "all" NZers
5
@Gumpmachine1 you like maths, count the incendiary anti-Maaori posts and compare with anti-Paakehaa posts. If you truly are non-bias and respect information, your discovery will be enlightening.
2
@Gumpmachine1 actually no. The govt. is not the Crown, you'll understand this by reading the Treaty where it says "Crown" and "Iwi Maaori" and does not say "the govt". You're twisting words into something they are not
2
@crazykiwican what utter nonsense, what bills? What 88% ? Everyone including Maaori pay tax, what world do you live in?
2
@Gumpmachine1 in NZ, we choose people over money. We value helping one another, not climbing over one another for leverage. You forget that none of what you claim non-Maaori have contributed would be possible without the Treaty and the signatories of that Treaty, the Maaori people. I agree Maths can give a logical insight into problems, but Maths alone is far too linear, far too one dimensional to be relied on for an issue as multi-layered and misunderstood by Paakehaa as The Tiriti. If you wish to get a fuller picture of the broader sociological ranges in play, you should invest some time in learning the Reo, and learning Maaori history.
1
@Gumpmachine1 your view that money is health is not shared by Maaori in general. You cannot eat money, you can't give it to your dying friend to heal them. Money is used to block access to resource, but capitalism is another story, let's stay on topic. When you go to someone's house, do you walk in, eat everything, take a dump, then put your feet up and say it's your house now? As a guest in this country, please don't be that guy.
1
@Gumpmachine1 "western enlightenment"? 😂😂 You point out prison stats and unemployment stats (which were incorrect fyi) but you don't know why these are so high. You don't mention the part where "western enlightenment" was involved in that. For someone claiming Maths is king, you sure neglected the missing values in that equation.
1
@crazykiwican you should be thanking Maaori for letting your forebears stay here. But then, they came along directly through the Treaty... so when you change the Treaty, what happens to you? 🤔
1
@Gumpmachine1 the longest living people in the world don't chase or worship money though, they have simple lives with simple natural foods. Do you know why the caged bird sings?
1
@Gumpmachine1 you're saying you're Tangata Whenua? Which waka did your ancestors arrive on?
1
@Gumpmachine1 Colonial forces could not defeat Maaori in combat, please research this topic if you want to be enlightened. You're using Knobsons Bludge rhetoric now 😂
1
@crazykiwican your racist views are what's wrong with NZ.
1
@Gumpmachine1 sorry, around 8000 bluecoats (seasoned elite forces directly drawn from Britain's South African colonisation campaign) arrived in 1864. Please do the research prior to hinging opinions to arguments. As I am a solutions based learner, for further reading: - James Bellich NZ Wars - Vincent O'Malley The Great War for NZ - Local Iwi Maaori authorities, you'll have to request an audience for this one.

@Gumpmachine1 actually the govt. "represents Crown", it doesn't arrive at decisions on the Crowns behalf. Also, it appears you have judged me without knowing anything about my contributions either way. Do you disrespect King Charles? He's an hereditary King with blood as the only qualifying factor..🤔 Will you admit hypocrisy that you judged me without knowing my achievements at this point? 🤔
1
@Gumpmachine1 as far as I know that was the most Grey could get his hands on after being in jail for sex crimes. At the time of Grey's trumped up accusations, the then Queen Victoria gave Grey full authority over all Imperial forces and resources in the "colony". Bluecoats were not to be trifled with, especially those seasoned from the SA invasions. It's quite gross, but did you know that the modern day hand held RPG was first tested on the Maaori as a prototype? You seem reasonably intelligent, for what it's worth, please go and research 1860ish for details on troop types and numbers. It's fascinating and Maaori resolve is undeniable. It might give you another insight into why Maaori distrust Tauiwi as well.
1
@Gumpmachine1 although in the absence of listing my achievements the judgement still happened. Anyway... I agree with you that hereditary professions are not ideal, imagine an hereditary electrician for example. Yet this does not remove King Charles from his position and respect is given to that. The thing is, there is a contract in place between two entities that does not include 3rd party interlopers. Example Analogy: I have a contract with my bank to buy a home next door to you. You don't like the look of me so you contact the bank and re-write my contract. This is what's happening and it isn't right morally or (as the Ministry of Justice have leaked) legally.
1
@Gumpmachine1 and even though more numerous (see Ooraakau battle, that was 3000 v 300) and with full artillery the British did not conquer Maaori by right of arms. This is a point you will see if you decide to look further.
1
@Gumpmachine1 I have spent quite some time researching the NZ wars and I feel that someone with your intelligence and passion would really enjoy seeing that, it appears you may even be able to view it objectively, outside of a lens of bias? I accept in good faith that you say you did not intend to judge me, thank you for recognising that. Also fyi, I am the 32nd GGson of Anne Boleyn, 36th GGson of Rhys Ap Cynan so I do have English heritage, Welsh, Irish, Scottish as well. I respect this as well as the Maaori heritage and imagine what it would look like if Wales had a modern day attack on the Welsh indigenous people. They would be fighting too.
1
@Gumpmachine1 I guess learning from history is also similarly rough 😵💫 Thanks for the convo btw 👍🏽
1
@Gumpmachine1 don't get me wrong, when someone (and there's plenty) starts leaning into the racism part I have no issue hurling schoolyard insults. In your case you came with rationale and some courtesy, so your effort is reciprocated.
1
He came from Palmy, which struggled for many years to overcome anti-Maaori sentiment. Rangitaane and neighbours have done a great job, but Simple Seymour's education is just beginning 😂
1
Yes, watch the racism flow 😅
1
@crazykiwican these numbers are from the election 2 months ago. People don't want the Treaty messed with.
1
And after that, the Maaori people will speak
1
@Gumpmachine1 so no Maaori genealogical matter then? Then you are not descended from Treaty signatories and this matter is outside of your interference. It is between Crown and Maaori. You are a settler and not tangata whenua. Please bare this in mind when you enter someone's home and start taking the furniture.
