  1.  @mikeschlup5279  The CCN has done videos about the difference in wear - particularly in cylinders - from doing 10K mile intervals rather than 5K. Our 2014 Prius reminds us to change every 5K but the manual says 10K. I was about to change to the manual's recommendation when CCN wised me up. At 176K on the vehicle with negligible loss of oil between changes I have no doubt he saved me from a world of regret.

  3. Nearly all brake shops offer a free visual inspection - it lets them estimate the cost of the brake job if needed. If a couple other shops say the same thing it is probably true. I don't understand about the scoring while there is still lining left on the pads unless it sees a lot of hard braking. I'm interested in CCN's take on it.
