  1. Oil would make them sticky believe it or not, brake fluid can be washed off by soaking the shoes in water.

  2. Resurfacing brake surfaces was always done on a linishing belt or radius grinder, nothing sketchy about using a belt sander.

  3. You're making twice the amount of work to remove the calipers by removing 4 bolts when you only need to remove the 2 holding the bracket on.

  4. The rear slide pin was being held in by vacuum, due to the dirty grease or too much grease.

  5. Replacing rotors is not my idea of cost cutting when they can be machined for much less.
