She was a feminist. And she became egalitarian, for the better.

You can send her food.

Social justice is something that most people on the planet will approve to. So when exactly did it become improper to fight for this ideal? Some idiots ruining it for everyone, again. Like the Bible ruining the names Jesus and Judas, Hitler ruining Charlie Chaplin's beard and the iPad ruining tablet pc's.

Please no, god was the major problem this whole talk was about after all.

jf7333 They are no true scotsmen.

Ashley Knapp And men don't have any right to discuss feminist viewpoints, because they have a penis and have a primordial urge to rape women. We have heard the stories times and times again, doesn't make them more true. Please spare us your feminine supremacy bullshit.

***** Saying you're a feminist is as much a description of your personal beliefs like saying you're a christ or a muslim. It's not like there is an official checklist you have to go through and you have to represent every opinion listed in exactly that way. They are a bunch of true scotsmen in that regard (just... search "no true scotsman"). Feminism was a bad name to choose for this movement anyways, the name doesn't imply equal rights but more rights for women.

jf7333 Go and search, "No true scotsman". In short: You say your religion is about peace. People come and commit gruesome crimes in the name of this very religion. And then say, they are no true beliefers, yet they acted very well on basis of this book. You're twisting the rules, only someone that goes with the exact interpretation of your's is considered a true beliefer. Same problem in every religion.

jf7333 I will blame religion along with the people themselves as long as they commit crimes against humanity in the name of some deity. They interpret it in the way X, you interpret the same words in the way Y. Either of you could be false, Mohammed isn't here to ask. Christianity did this as well till few hundred years ago, but the Western world has grown up in the meantime. We have placed federal law above the magic book so we don't have to deal with arbitrary interpretations of the same texts over and over again, resulting in a for the most part consistent jurisdiction and legal safety. Now it's the turn of the many Muslim areas with practically no proper legal system (no, a few old dudes reciting what they remember of some 1500 years old book is no proper jurisdiction) to keep up.

SpamCam I don't see the flamewar here. Most comments contained legitimate arguments. But really, if the TED speaker would hold the deep belief that Harry Potter is an actual historical person, would it be okay to step up and say "Uhm, actually..."? Why does religion get the special treatment? I'm going to read some Amazon user reviews for the Bible now.

I wonder what books they use in the schools of Afghanistan...

She said she teaches IT in her school. Koran had to be quite ahead of it's time.

It's just a Jesuit clone.

Videos like these should get at least official (not the faulty automatically generated) English subtitles. For people not listening to English this will be hard to understand, which is a shame.

I am starving for new information. Really. So focused on your sexual organs.

Because her followers use social and ubiquitous aggression all over the internet, not only a gun pointed at one person at a time.
