I guess you have enough money to build and maintain your own streets, your own water connection, your own facilities to recycle solid and liquid waste and of course to do the same for all the shops you like to buy from, so you don't have to wade through waste and catch cholera during shopping. Tax really is just stealing money from people, they don't get anything in return.

MajkaSrajka Atheism-is-Unstoppable. Call it an insider joke. The core of the joke lies deeply in a legal grey area. The problem is that you objectively don't commit any crime by subtly calling for the commitment of an act which is not a crime by nature but lies itself in a legal grey area. In short: "Someone other did."

MajkaSrajka Isn't the problem that you ultimately don't know what was in these "leaked informations"?

The fact that changes everything and that you're missing is that the difference between a weed and a desirable plant is in the eye of the beholder.

MajkaSrajka Of course you don't know, if you're not one of these selected journalists. That is the fundamental problem I am pointing to. You have to trust in people you don't know personally, that they tell you the truth on global issues, which no one except these people themselves can verify. That's why the panama papers can't be taken seriously.
2
Potato Lord They publicly release their findings, not the raw data.
2
The release of the panama papers was one example how we can't trust the journalists. They were conspiring in their secret circles to persue a common goal. This time they did it in most peoples favour, which doesn't imply that the people who significantly drive public discourse and opinion will be this favourable next time.
2
Slightly egocentric.

No raw data, no trust.

You missed how current journalism works.

OnE61811301 I'm not really entitled to speak on my ancestors behalf... But it's no secret that things worked differently before the rise of the internet and social media. Just look up the combination "journalism history" and whatever country you prefer.

Because actual cryptography requires a lock and a key. And sending/storing the key together with the lock is somewhat redundant. To be sure you have to send the key by other means than the lock, which also means that the recipient has to be somehow aware of this process, especially in our time of semi-intelligent algorithms. If you want it secure, each connection has to have it's own set of key and lock that are physically separated, which will quickly become confusing. Secure encryption is just not a technology suitable for mainstream intercourse.

David Wührer Asymmetric encryption is just an asymmetry in the keys used for encryption and decryption. Whatever system for encryption you use, you can't change the fact that the person who is supposed to read the encrypted file has to be in possession of the key and logic demands that you have to keep this key secret and separate of the actual message if you actually want a secret conversation.
1
David Wührer Doesn't seem to be an insurmountable obstacle, but good enough for the current state of technology. Okay, thanks for sharing.

Better trust the journalists, they always tell the truth and they know what is best for you.
