Re the claim from the left that Harris ran a "perfect" campaign, one only needs to see her "concession" speech to know that the claim is nonsense. It opened with, "The light of America's promise will always burn bright". That was yet another "word salad", albeit, this time, only a little one. It really is the vacuousness of the Harris campaign summed up in one short sentence. The West can breathe a sigh of relief that she did not become President of the United States.

Re the new Tory leadership, Tory members faced a very difficult choice; whether to select a candidate with an almost zero chance of leading them to victory at the next general election, or one with an absolute zero chance. It seems they have chosen the latter. Destroying an ill tempered automaton like Starmer at the despatch box during each PMQs will not bring the Tories back to power. Farage will be delighted that Badenoch became the Tory leader. "Meet the new boss; same as the old boss".
