@aumann0452 it's not legal to hunt any game animal in that way. They hunt invasive hogs that way. It's not in the same section of law as restrictions for hunting deer or something like that it's more like pest control as you would think of using traps to catch rats. It's legal to kill rats there's no particular season, and you can basically use almost any method you want so long as it isn't actual torture, or creating a poison risk to other animals or a direct danger to humans. And all of those apply for the people who are doing feral hog eradication. They can't do it in a way that's unsafe. When they are shooting at hogs from helicopters it's an areas that are not very near people at all, and they have a very good backstop which is to say the ground. they're shooting at a pretty steep downward angle. They are doing it and basically open country scrub land and farm crop. They have multiple people spotting at any given time. If you think about it there is probably a lot less risk of anadvertently hitting another person than shooting normal roughly level shots in the forest from the ground. In many cases the wild hogs are not fit to eat they just need to be destroyed.
