@rahulsubramanian6545 well they were fighting a world war after all. It wasn't an easy choice to make. Would you put your own people first or anothers if you were in the same position? You also fail to mention that the supply lanes were wrecked by a cyclone which didn't help. What about the japanese? Shouldn't they share the blame as well?

@naanthony7807 India has amongst the largest population of poor starving people in the world today. Is that Britain’s fault? No. The Japanese invasion was one of the main causes of the famine since it severed the Rangoon Burmese route which was the main supply line. Churchill asked Roosevelt to send more ships so they could transfer crops from Australia to Bengal but the US president refused. Not to mention the corrupt Indian officials kept the food for themselves and didn’t distribute it to the people. So shouldn’t the Americans, Indian officials and Japanese share the blame if it was man made?

@rahulsubramanian6545 Britain can't control the weather nor the crop fungus, the famine was mostly caused by nature. You also fail to hold the japanese to account probably because they're not white. Due to India having amongst the largest homeless population on Earth, the life expectancy isn't surprising. In mentioning repopulation, other empires throughout history did the same. British and non British.

Completely untrue, to blame it all on Britain isnt just a result of not studying history properly it’s pure arrogance. The Japanese invasion of Burma certainly didn’t help which severed the Rangoon Bengal supply route. Neither did the weather when a major cyclone hampered the supply routes and the crops were infected with a deadly fungus known as Bengal epiphytotic.

Corrupt indian officials were laundering most of the non infected grain and keeping it for themselves without feeding the population. The crops were infected by a notorious fungus during the crisis. Churchill asked the Americans for more ships to import crops from Australia to India to help with the famine but was refused. The Japanese entry severed the main supply line in Burma so the allies had to use the sea lanes which were hampered by the cyclone. Alot of the remaining food had to be distributed to the Indian and British troops since they would be the ones defending the country from the japanese onslaught.

The crops were also affected with a deadly fungus and the supply lines unaffected by the Japanese invasion suffered under a major cyclone. Clearly you didn't do your research properly. Try better next time.

@SeahawkGaming-xp7bl Churchill wrote to other countries urging them to send grain and other food to help deal with the famine. Roosevelt refused claiming he couldn’t spare the ships while others such as Australia agreed to help.

The Japanese invasion cut off the main supply routes through Burma so the allies had to rely on shipping lanes instead. Churchill wrote to Roosevelt for more ships to transport the grain from Australia to Benghal to stop the famine but the US refused. Also corrupt indian officials kept alot of the food for themselves and didn't bother feeding the population. Believe me the indians would have suffered far worse if the japanese arrived. They would have plundered all the non fungus food and allow way more indians to starve to death. The British commonwealth on the other hand were trying to stop it.

@abidurrahman7168 Not everybody glorifies the world wars, that's why we have memorials to pay our respects. Also many indians fought bravely and esteemed in battle. Also the world wars didn't influence the weather or change in environment in India.

Your country or a foreign one? Indian officials did benefit from the system the British created and back stabbed their own country men to preserve their comfortable life style and power. So shouldn't they bear responsibility for the famine as well? Also if it weren't for the allied troops, the Indian people would have suffered far worse under the Japanese. Alot of the grain in that region were infected by a deadly fungus due to the environment. Did the British control that and the weather too?

Doesn’t matter if they’re developing countries, poor starving people which are by the millions in India don’t care about saving Earth because they are focusing on survival. So if the Indian government wants to help stop global warming, try focusing on the homeless situation first.

Some such as Australia answered the call and sent in supplies. The clean food that remained had to be distributed to the Allied troops defending the country from the Japanese advance who were the real monsters.

@abidurrahman7168 there is also documents backing the facts I told you about as well which you choose not to read. Many indians didn't mind the British being there since it meant security and protection. Also Churchill in his autobiography praised the Indian troops.

@sumit6190p In case you haven't read my message properly, the japanese invasion of Burma severed one of the main supply routes to India so the allies had to make do with the sea and river supply lanes instead. Also a cyclone devastated the area which certainly didn't help the supply routes. The crops were also infected by terrible fungus as well making them uneatable. Most of the unaffected food left had to the distributed to the Indian and Commonwealth soldiers since they would be defending the country from the Japanese.
