  3. Family law and how penal it became to men has been an oft-cited reason that I've heard down the past 35 years or so for NOT getting hitched. Legal costs are outrageous. Mediation services insufficiently accessible. Generations of families being destroyed and children increasingly raised by a sole parent; changes in relationship expectations are now deeply ingrained.
