Philadelphia has about 1.5 million people. So 200 homicides in that city is only about 13.3 per 100,000, which is not high enough to make Briggs’ list.. (Remember, Washington DC had a homicide rate of 22.8 and they were only 10th.) I am more surprised that Camden, NJ did not make the list!

Gabriel Ortiz - Chicago comes close to making Briggs’ top 10 list, and Miami does have a lot of crime, including murders. Portland and New York City are nowhere near making this list!

The same party that controls relatively safe cities like New York, Seattle, and Boston. Also, which party controls Louisiana, the state the three of the most dangerous cities?

There have been enough of those comments already. It looks like Chicago, with 561 homicides, about 20 homicides per 100,000, came close to making this list and would have made top 15.

They are all in the United States! 🇺🇸

To qualify, a city must have 100,000 people.

I got the Big D the last time I ate at Denny’s.

The only thing that is shit are your research and math skills.

I heard that the number was closer to 600 to 700. Obviously, Chicago’s murder rate is less than Washington DC at 22.8 per 100,000 and Chicago has 2.7 million people, so their actual murders must be less than 22.8 * 27 or about 615.

They have too many murderers. 😎

Robert Beightler - Most big cities are run by Democrats, but there are exceptions. NYC has had Republican mayors, notably Giuliani and Bloomberg, for instance.

Tom Cook - Idiot.

Maybe it would help when surrounding states also have tough gun legislation. New York City, with a murder rate lower than the rest of the USA is surrounded by New Jersey and Connecticut, two states with the toughest gun laws. Chicago, which has more homicides than NYC and LA combined,is surrounded by Wisconsin and Indiana, whose gun laws are a joke.

Disobedient One - And I would rather live in a place where the homicide rate is low, but that appears to be in places which have stricter gun control, and that are surrounded by places with strict gun control.
