If you live in the Midwest, there will be a high risk of tornadoes. I think the safest state might be Ohio, but F5 and EF5 tornadoes have hit there as well as every other Midwestern state. But the vast majority of tornadoes will be weaker, EF0 or EF1. The worst state to live in would be Kansas, with Missouri and Nebraska not being much better. Best advice is to plan ahead just in case. If you are under a tornado warning, close all windows. Move to an interior room on the lowest level of your home. Move under heavy furniture if that is an option. But chances are you will be fine. I lived in Ohio for 11 years, and have never seen a tornado in person.

Bullcrap. You aren’t even full in Ohio.

Why the crap about California? The East Coast is politically very similar and a lot closer.

@SA-hz1rs - Parts of the Midwest are violent, but that has nothing to do with California.

They migrated from Ohio.

Which state has the highest? My guess would be New Jersey. Good luck getting a house there for $195K!

Or the next Lake Erie.

@garycallihan4206 - It was surprising how many houses in Ohio did not have basements. In any event, you want to be in the lowest level of your home, preferably a basement.
