  6. Landlocked means not on the shores of any sea or ocean. A dead giveaway is any such sea or ocean must be on sea level. Lake Michigan is about 600 feet above sea level. There are two doubly landlocked countries; these countries are Liechtenstein and Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan is on the Caspian Sea (which is a sea in name only; it’s really the world’s largest lake that is about 92 feet below sea level.)

  7. I think it is counterintuitive that another state that is landlocked is Michigan. But the state that comprises two peninsulas on the shores of four of the five Great Lakes is landlocked. Again, none of these Lakes are on sea level as Michigan lacks direct oceanic access.
