The rest of the story is more interesting: The blue check mark for $8 plan was so poorly implemented, someone paid the $8 to become Eli Lilly, (pharma company) and posted that from now on insulin was FREE. Eli Lilly now has tens of thousands mad at them, because insulin isn't free. Another person paid $8 to become LeBron James, and then tweeted that he was demanding to be traded. All hell broke loose. Then someone paid $8 to become "Jesus Christ", and Musk certified them! Jesus Christ has a blue check on Twitter! What a circus!
