A bit of a silly comment. Calvin is mixed with British heritage, so he rightly feels a heir to Britain's culture. And even if he wasn't, he feels part of British culture through personal affinity, so has every right to his claim. You're not to decide who feels what and how they identify.

Britain has never understood the EU and never will. It became the focal point of a domestic battle between left-wing progressives and right-wing patriots... whereas in many other European countries the EU is a non-issue or not necessarily in conflict with patriotism and cultural preservation. All that Brexit has done is to put Swedish immigrants on a level playing field with Afghani immigrants to the UK. Brexit is not contributing to a reduction in immigration.

@sye601 affinity is important in my opinion. It happens that people with no British lineage/heritage still feel very British because British behavioural traits suit their personality better than the expected behavioural traits of their culture of origin, there are some like that, but very few, and these few are often very patriotic and understand the culture of the country. I believe that Calvin, while of mixed heritage, feels that way. He feels his British side is more him than his Afro-caribbean side.

@allistermcginlay6476 you are implying that brexit meant different thing to different people. Then no wonder critics of brexit will say that 'people didn't know what they were voting for'. The EU is no less democratic than the UN or the ECHR.

So what's happening with the Reclaim party, Calvin?

Agreed, the whole working class sentiment is just as silly as the woke ideology. It does nothing to elevate the mind.

It's an American neologism and should be rejected.

@alganhar1 you have misread my posts and are deliberately trying to demonise me with your strawman arguments. One of the key messages of the leave campaign was for the UK to have control of immigration, a promised it so far has miserably failed to deliver on. I know very well that people can vote for a same policy or party for very different reasons. Take Indian and Pakistani nationals in the UK who voted Brexit; they did it because it would facilitate immigration into the UK for their own compatriots - something Brexit is so far delivering on. We all vote in accordance with our own interests except some who selflessly worry over such abstract concepts as sovereignty or EU federalism which they only have very little control over in their own lives, whichever way a vote might go. I hope you're enjoying the resounding success of brexit!
