  1.  @louisbarbisan2608  Once you reach North Dakota you have actually left Canada and can pretty freely move around the US. There are no domestic travel vax mandates in the US. No guarantees that holds forever, I hear they are cooking up a new virus. The problem for Canadians is that you still cannot legally cross the US border as an unvaxxed foreigner tourist visa holder. Some Canadians get lucky and just drive across with few questions, but its not guaranteed.

  2. It depends on your priorities when you say loss of freedoms. I travel a lot and have family in several places in Europe and South America. Of these places the US actually has some of the least annoying pandemic response rules once you are inside the country. Censorship in the media as well, I always shake my head when Americans say this, they have no idea. The US is full of alternative media outlets and talk radio, etc. Things that are not legal or present in much of the rest of the world. Divides in society? Yes, the political class in the US foments race and class unrest to stay in power. Its new and ugly in the US to the degree that I see it, and I actively dislike it. But its just normal political rhetoric in Argentina where I am from. I would at least say go take a year's vacation in several cheap places that you might want to retire. Try before you buy because it is not all as advertised online.

  3.  @adrian-4767 Much of Latin and South America has/had terrible lockdowns and are full of vax mandates. Costa Rica is currently vaccinating all its kids, Argentines and Peruvians were locked at home for like a year, Chile is still nuts, Uruguay is on booster round one million and the list goes on and on. I hear Nicaragua never had mandates or lockdowns but I have not fact checked that yet. Nor is that proof that it won't happen in the future, Ortega can do whatever he wants with the place. I know its not popular to say here but most of the US is the best I've been if you do not want to be jabbed, masked and locked down.
