  2. I prefer engines with timing chains. You only replace them if they fail. Non interference engines won’t grenade if the timing fails.

  3.  @jgranger2002  you mean timing belts. All cars I've owned with timing chains are not interference engines (V8's). Foreign cars I don't know about.

  6. I had a friend that had a Passat with an interference engine. The garage supposedly did the maintenance and the timing belt. Soon after the engine blew. He returned it to the dealership and luckily they had entered the work in his book. They gave him a new engine because they never changed the belt
