  2. Such is a social death spiral, there is a reason Confucianism and Christianity assign a social structure in which the young look after the old and have children to look after them. In a sense the social structures and norms have to be designed to combat these issues and it is only natural selection that those which did became dominant. This in large part seems like a justification for dewestisfication, many of the social structures and norms adopted by Japan are simply not functional in perpetuating society, if Japan is to succeed they should look west for errors rather than models. As to solutions social pressure to marry, a prioritization of prestige for large families over career progression, a robust legal and moral strengthening of successful family structures and possibly a reintroduction of arranged marriage are likely to work. Whatever is done however the dating system, liberal social attitudes, norms and legal protections and an obsession with corporate professions are proven failures. Japan does not need economic growth, it needs people.

  3.  @Ksl9393  That is merely digging a deeper hole, unless the underlying issues are dealt with there will only be decline and the nation will never recover.
