  3. Well, you have a valid point, but remember that there is no state Income Tax in Texas, and you can qualify for various exemptions that can lower your taxes. Pay attention to school zones. I moved to another part of the same town and my taxes went up by quite a bit simply because I changed school districts.

  5. You make some good points, but the healthcare problems are only in rural areas. I live in the DFW Metroplex and have an extremely wide set of options for every type of doctor or specialist I need to see. I just shake my head when people say Texas has horrible healthcare. The cities have great options. A lot of states with large land masses have the same issue.

  11.  @donjindra  I wish I was lying. I have nothing to gain by lying and no reason to do so. I have a black friend that lives in Far North Dallas. He gets pulled over for no reason about once a week because he's a black man driving a nice car in a predominantly white area. I've seen it happen. I also have been mistaken for Middle Eastern and pulled over for no reason and released as soon as they found out I worked for Homeland Security and used to be a cop.

  13. I live in the DFW Area and know of Godley. They have a ridiculously high school tax rate for homeowners there.

  20.  @robbyharrison101  Fort Stockton has high crime when compared to other towns of similar sized population. You didn't mention Van Horn and neither did I. You mentioned Galveston, which I love visiting, but it has very high crime and some bad areas.
