In the 70s most Climatologists were predicting warming. Peterson - The myth of the 70s cooling consensus - Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. You remember wrong.

@kirkc4696 30 years is considered long enough to determine a trend in the Climate. Every decade for the last sixty years has been warmer than the previous decade. The planet is warming rapidly due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions.

@haruchai But he’s not entitled to his own facts. A cover story in Newsweek and a documentary hosted by Leonard Nimoy doesn’t change the fact most Climatologists were predicting warming in the 70s. Live long and prosper. 🖖

@dfor50 I don’t care. This year is the hottest year globally on the instrumental record. The last eight years were the hottest eight years globally on the instrumental record. Nineteen of the hottest twenty years globally on the instrumental record have been since 2000. Every decade for the last sixty years has been warmer than the previous decade. The planet is warming rapidly due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions, far too rapidly.

@Wtf0069 CO2 levels have gone from 280 ppm to 419 ppm in the Industrial Era due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. CO2 is a potent Greenhouse Gas. Tha validity of the Greenhouse Effect Theory is scientifically undisputed. The planet is warming rapidly due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Sea level rise is accelerating, hurricanes are getting stronger, polar ice caps and glaciers are rapidly melting, heat waves are increasing, the ocean is acidifying, fire seasons are getting longer, hotter and dryer and intense rainfall events are increasing due to Climate Change.

@haruchai No. In the 70s most Climatologists were predicting warming. Peterson - The myth of the 70s cooling consensus - Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. In the late 60s and early 70s Climatology was in it’s infancy. There had been slight cooling during and since WW2. Some Climatologists made erroneous assumptions. Most didn’t. It’s now known the cooling was due to particulates from the huge industrial expansion during and post war and some cooling from volcanic eruptions. Read the paper.
