  1. There weren't any "dirt floors" in those areas, though they did farm. The tales about dirt floors in Appalachia were spread by the Ds to pass welfare legislation, where they showed a few photos of very old homes that were few and far between to do it, along with producing several TV shows to show the area as dirt poor. Many, in Appalachia, lived in the old coal camp houses at worst.
