  1. Quebec still wanting to part ways with the rest? Years back, in the early 90s, I was in Windsor, and they even spoke of Ontario wanting to secede.

  3. nightviper1115: My guess, is that it was 1 & 2. The company I represented, made MIG welding guns, and Chrysler was the biggest customer. They wanted to expand in the US market. Eventually, they were bought out by ATC. There was a big cost difference between the two cities, on groceries, and especially things like cigarettes. They told me of the cigarette smuggling at night, by boats slipping across the Detroit river. It was a big business for the mob. If I recall, a pack of cigarettes was around $1.50 in the US, and around $7.00 in Windsor. That creates organized crime.

  4. Mike C: I'd heard about that with Quebec. There was talk, back in the 90s, about Ontario seceding, and joining the US. I was visiting for a week in Windsor, when I was a US rep for a Windsor company who made equipment for Chrysler at the time.

  5. nightviper1115: What I heard was back around 1992, but it could have been only the people talking in Windsor. A lot there depended upon Detroit, and Detroit is dying.
