  1. Corporations only latch onto wokeness when they know they will profit from it. The earliest example was when corporations latched onto the ideas of Robert Owen and the Owenites (utopianists and proto-socialists). Friedrich Engels really loved the idea, as they could now pay a lower wage, and hold workers within a communal textile mill workhouse leading to more profit. The mining companies picked up on this as well, which brought company housing, company stores, and company scrip. It's about controlling the employees and paying them less.
