One of the interviewees touches on an important point. "They have many thoughts that they struggle to put into words." The young "protesters" fleeing to Taiwan don't always understand what exactly they are fleeing. They claim Hong Kong is a repressive society, yet they struggle to provide examples other than themselves being wanted for acts of crime. Beyond criminal liability, I suspect the other thing they are fleeing is an increasingly marginalised Hong Kong in the context of an increasingly influential China. China has not taken a single right of Hong Kongers, but what it did gradually take away was Hong Kong's past monopoly on international trade.

Calling each other brave, but fleeing the scene after violently assaulting an opponent in public.

@DZ477 I'm not dumb, I don't assault people.

Jimmy Wijaya how does this apply to Hong Kong? I saw the Chinese army out with brooms and buckets, not guns and tanks.

Nope. They are actually having real gatherings, although in smaller scale. The level of stupidity is not much better than those American "anti-lockdown" protesters.

Because Taiwan knows they are wanted criminal suspects. This is how they can claim political points by "supporting Hong Kong's democracy," while not actually introducing questionably beneficial people to Taiwan's local community.

Like many kids, he wanted to bravely state his intention to face his crime in Taiwan, but when it comes to actual execution, not everybody can live up to their words.

@jakelaw9768 I don't know if that is real news, but it is fairly obvious that the HK education sector offers a lot of quiet support for the protest movement.
