  1. This story is an important reminder for those doom-and-gloom critics of the "fallen Hong Kong" or the "dead Hong Kong" or whatever. People coming from places of actual hardship continue to see a future in Hong Kong, as an immigrant, as a refugee, as a city where relative stability and excellent rule of law offer a future without the hardship of warfare, starvation and--dare I say it--real, tangible oppression.
