  2. Because people are short-sighted and have short memory, and Hong Kong is no exception. People in Hong Kong like to blame China for all of their problems, forgetting that the housing shortage began WELL BEFORE the handover. Hong Kong's trade monopoly began to wane WELL BEFORE the handover. I'm not saying those problems are Britain's fault, but they're not China's fault either. China is constitutionally forbidden from directly fixing Hong Kong's problems, and Hong Kong has shown itself to be rather incapable so far.

  3. They will feel the unbelievable "freedom" which is the simple fact that America has much more open land than Hong Kong. Hong Kong's problem is not "democracy." It's capitalism, and America would do well to learn what happens when you fail to regulate big businesses like Hong Kong did. All the housing will be in the hands of investors.

  7. You sure you want to do that for some affluent students from frickin' Hong Kong, when tens of millions are starving and in fear of death in war-torn countries? Hong Kong ranks pretty low on the "humanitarian crisis" list IMO, but I think Biden needs to throw out some token measures to superficially continue the trade war that Trump started.

  8. I just saw a video on YT targeted at Hong Kongers, named "Life as a Bus Driver in Britain." I felt embarrassed for Hong Kong. Britain does not need more bus drivers who skipped bail for rioting.
