I’d say it was naming Raymond Spruance as Task Force 16 (Enterprise and Hornet) Commander.

Max Smith In the words of Drachinifel. 'I wonder how the captains of those ships felt knowing that their ships were sunk by effectively a cripple.' Enterprise entered the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal with bomb damage on her decks. Her forward elevator jammed and leaking fuel oil.

The man who helped White Star build Olympic, Titanic and Britannic.

White Star was the registered owner. Harland & Wolff built her and her sisters.

@josephkool8411 true.

Max Smith A similar thing happened to Yorktown. The Japanese thought they sunk her at Coral Sea and again when they thought Hiryu’s air strikes damaged her at Midway. It finally took I-168 for them to get it right.

And if Cersei wasn’t above knocking off Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen when they stopped being useful.

Speaking of Halsey and Enterprise. After the war, he made several (unfortunately fruitless) efforts to save Enterprise including going on national television. There's also a rumour that Halsey wanted the instrument of surrender signed on her. Though the Japanese had a say in it by ramming a zero through her flight deck on May 14 1945.

Max Smith Actually there was a bit of dark comedy by the crew when one of them posted a banner called ‘Enterprise vs Japan’ on her flight deck.

0:13. You mean like Cersei?

At the cost of her viewing Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen as expendible.

@billmactiernan6304 Fletcher had overall tactical command aboard USS Yorktown (CV-5). But Spruance was in command of Enterprise (CV-6) and Hornet (CV-8) which made up roughly 2 thirds of the carrier force. After Yorktown was disabled and close to sinking, Fletcher handed command of the remaining forces to Spruance.

Supposedly according to the late and great James D Hornfischer’s. Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors. Kurita thought that when he engaged Taffey 3 and mistaken it for Task Force 38. He reported that one of the ships sunk was and “Enterprise-Class Carrier.” Guess who came back to haunt him.

@adamscott7354 bit late. But was this opinion based on what he did at Leyte Gulf?

Admiral Jack Fletcher is who you're thinking about.

Max Smith True.

@axelpatrickb.pingol3228 True although even though some YouTube Historians like Drachinifel believe if Hornet and Wasp weren’t sunk, the US Navy would not have borrowed HMS Victorious. But I beg to differ. If those two had suffered almost the same amount of damage. They would needed to have returned to Pearl Harbor and the West Coast for repairs. With only a battered Enterprise for a month and Saratoga once again coming out of dry dock. The US is short of carriers for the Guadalcanal campaign.

Gene Roddenberry was inspired by Enterprise (CV-6).
