@Craig Benz So you're saying that you would trust a Colombian-made barrel over an op rod/piston that they shortened slightly? I would much rather have an op rod crack than have a barrel explode in my hands. And I personally feel that they went the best route. It was probably cheaper than making new barrels for them, and they didn't even bother to mess around with that stupid spacer idea like our arsenals did.

@Cesar Garcia You are severely misinformed. If you want to see a complex semi-auto rifle, I suggest you watch some of Ian's videos on early/prototype guns. The Garand is a very simple rifle, with an excellent design perfected over more than a decade of trial and error, and it's only huge for an unusually small person (though it could be a bit lighter.) It's only real downside was the use of en bloc clips instead of detachable magazines.

@Mike Blair No changes necessary. The only modification might be a feed lip "block" added in the receiver, like the Italians did.

@richardseyboldt3960 I have a James River BM59 XM1E2 rifle, which is essentially a "tanker" Garand that is chambered for 7.62 NATO, and is mag fed. The barrel is 17", and it has no muzzle device on the end. Here is a link to some pictures, if you want to see what one looks like> https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=1368176 Yes, it has one HELL of a concussion blast when you touch off a round! But it's more noticeable to bystanders than the person shooting it. The muzzle flash is also fantastic ;) However, the recoil is surprisingly tame in my opinion, even though it is a fairly light gun (when compared to a full-sized Garand.) *Edited to fix link.
