Those reactors are called thorium reactors but they use many isotopes. The thorium is a secondary fuel, the primary fuel is mox fuel and uses plutonium.

@Soken50 right, it contains plutonium. The plutonium can be isolated rather easily. The plutonium is what powers the initial reaction and supplies the neutrons that begin the reaction. What I said was over simplified so as not to confuse the less educated public. Mox fuel is very dangerous in the wrong hands.

@Soken50 It can be heated up and the plutonium can be separated from the Mox fuel. This plutonium is weapon grade material.

@Soken50 You may know or understand better than I. But I did take the time to read the function of the molten fuel reactors that use thorium to clean up nuclear waste and the potential problems they pose. You seem to be a fan boy to me, but the reality is that the fuel that is used to clean up the waste starts with plutonium in the molten salt, and that the plutonium can be easily separated while in molten form. I didn't mention fast breeder reactions, you did, quit attacking straw men. Also I don't know why you are taking some accusatory stance at me. What is your problem with my statement or with me?
