  1. Banning political ads and de-emphasizing political discussion on Facebook is a non-starter because as you say it is not good for shareholders. There is a way to "thread the needle" and keep high engagement political content. Maybe the Reddit approach where everybody has their views challenged by other people constantly (even though it's also an echo chamber)?

  3. Facebook already has non-anonymous real-name accounts (in theory). This is massively controversial especially when a Facebook account is required to use the Oculus virtual reality headsets (and video game players tend not to be too fond of Facebook and its privacy reputation).
