5:57 Here are the most important Variable Interest Entities (VIE): 1. Zhejiang Taobao Network Co., Ltd. 2. Zhejiang Tmall Network Co., Ltd 3. Alibaba Cloud Computing Ltd. 4. Youku Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd I thought I'd write this out because most English speakers would struggle to transcribe the word "Zhejiang"! It might also help with search engine optimization.

Corporate structures are very dry, and as somebody else said in the comments: arcane. This video is a bit hard to follow and requires a lot of active listening and thought to try and piece things together. A simplified diagram explained as a slideshow using PowerPoint might have kept people's attention further. All that said, this video is a great deep dive into the arcane part of Chinese corporate structures, specially in relation to Alibaba and its businesses (Youku, Taobao, Ant/AliPay etc). I also really enjoyed your examination of the "big red button" / "nuclear option" provided by what you eloquently call the "strategic ambiguity": the legality of those Variable Interest Entities that are used in those Chinese corporate structures. I guess it tells us what everybody already knows: the Chinese Communist Party (and well placed executives like Jack Ma) can consolidate power at any point (and steal money from investors, especially foreigners) yet still be 100% legal, because the contracts, courts and legal system in China are specifically designed with the "strategic ambiguity" that the CCP can leverage at any time. I can understand why China is constantly trying to clamp down on people moving all their assets to safer legal jurisdictions. If I had capital in China, I would too LOL
