@willcal3679 You said "a white man freed the slaves." That wasn't true. He freed the few remaining slaves after most of the rest of the world had already done so. You're the one that said it, were you trying to express a negative opinion about Lincoln? Or is it safe to say "a white man freed the slaves" means he accomplished something positive? Whatever. the important part is, he was the President, and most of the country was moving away from slavery at that point. People are supposed to be grateful for the fact that somebody stopped doing something blatantly wrong? I mean, your main point hinges on your opinion of racism, and it doesn't seem too intelligent. I don't think it matters if you think the host is racist, if you also think "a white man freed the slaves" is some kind of comeback.

Society had mostly moved on from slavery at that point, so it's not really accurate to say "it was a white person that freed the slaves." Makes it sound like former slaveowners and people who approved were somehow heroic for "ending" slavery when many already didn't have slaves and disapproved.
