It was about fleeing violence that America helps perpetuate with the appointment of dictators and the influx of guns and supplies to gangs and militia. @s3ntin3l60 Illegals aren't receiving welfare, for the most part. They just work hard, have humble accommodations and send most of their money home. It's more lazy Americans on welfare, snowflakes who feel entitled to manufacturing jobs that disappear with automation. Your government helps install the type of corrupt leaders you're whining about, and corporations can do whatever they want due to free trade and other agreements that favor large economies and multinational corporations. I'm sorry you got the impression America is a hell hole from what I said. The fact is, America makes other places pay for what you have. That's what disaster capitalism is, that's why you invade countries that drop the petrodollar, that's why you sanction some countries while aiding dictators with weapons and logistics. You sell guns to human rights abusers and train militia in other countries, and leave them with sufficient supplies and equipment to start a war. You make it suck to live in other countries, then complain when people come here. Disingenuous at best, evil at worst.

They already had understanding of property and land rights in England and France, they just played dumb like you're doing. "Immigrate" is a verb. You don't need immigration laws to immigrate, nor do you need them to understand the concept of theft. And of course the USA has had immigration laws since 1790, so most immigrants have been subject to immigration law. Then there's the fact nothing you said even remotely relates to the OP. Do you want a re-do?

@NPC13377 After a few decades of legal immigration the demographics change. That's how immigration works. And sex, and reproduction. Are you complaining about a demographics change the rest of the world is looking forward to? Old white men haven't exactly set the world on fire when it comes to facing problems. Much of the gang violence these people are fleeing is because of your snowflake lifestyle, and the other snowflakes who surround you. @JoyZofSoRRoW Picking fruit is piecework, that's why Mexicans make money at it and Americans usually don't try. It's a decent living if you just work, that's why Mexicans are good at it. Machines are just better, and as costs go down, the jobs you're griping about won't be available. None of that has anything to do with legitimate asylum seekers. I'd buy that "take care of ourselves" shit, but the problem is your country hurts others. So first, you have to make your government and corporations stop doing that. You know: hold them accountable. Then you won't even have refugees to complain about.

It's kind of relevant because if it isn't the US and UK that's controlling and shaping the world's economy, it will be China and Russia. America can't hide atrocities as well anymore, and people are starting to get tired of "regime change" that changes nothing. The border "issue" stems directly from economic colonization, the very thing American corporations continue to practice without worry about regulation from corrupt local governments. America likes their banana republics, just like the UK enjoyed theirs. I don't insult Americans intellect, it's the schools that are the problem. Ever since the Vietnam protests the schools were adjusted to reduce the possibility of free thought. They're great at training McDonald's employees though. Or am I supposed to say "macca's?"

@scottcrockett8270 Conservatives used to be about spending money appropriately. First, the wall would cost much more than 5 billion. Second, even if it was 5 billion, that money could be more effectively spent to solve the "border crisis." The wall literally won't help at all. It's financial mismanagement, something most people have come to expect from Trump.

@scottcrockett8270 According to the greatly reduced amount of illegal border crossings over the last decade, it's as complete as it needs to be. Other resources will help more. The argument for a wall isn't very strong when you already have what you've described. What's missing is staff to process cases, and actual enhanced security measures. Trump just wants to throw some money at construction companies so they can throw some back when he retires.

Don't worry. As America continues to decline, their ability to control foreign economies will wane, and the violence problem will go down. Of course, at that point black people and Latinos will be choosing your president. At that point we might start seeing some real immigration reform. Unless moving to America makes you as paranoid as the people who are already there, and they demand a wall to keep the other immigrants out. Maybe they'll act like the alt-right, and start rounding up people they don't like. Exciting time to be alive.

Americans need to hold them accountable for that. I certainly don't blame people looking for a better life. I don't know, how do I respond to criticisms about an argument I didn't make? I support people, not governments and corporations and banks.

@scottcrockett8270 Not what border agents own figures show up to 2018. We'll have to wait until they release figures for this year to see if there's a trend. The data they've released shows then number going down over the last decade. If we don't plan long term, we end up overreacting to aberrations. When the number was almost 2 million, there was a crisis. That's why border security was improved. Now the biggest number of illegals arrive legally, so a wall won't stop them. It's just not a good way to spend money if you want to reduce illegal immigration. Drugs crossing the border also won't be deterred by a wall. The economy requires that many people can regularly cross the border or enter the country by other methods with ease. The suspect in the fentanyl case you mention was a member of the Fast and Secure Trade program so obviously nobody's climbing a fence with a bag of drugs in your example.

David Holcomb I have walls around my home to protect me from the elements, not preventing anyone from entering who has a legitimate reason. Commerce crosses the border easily, that's why that guy got caught with all that fentanyl; he was a member of a program that allows you to pass through the border quickly. You can build a wall as high as you want, it won't stop the drugs because nobody's climbing the wall with them. Nobody's dodging border guards carrying drugs. Most of the illegals arrived legally, and did not hop the fence. I have walls around my home to protect me from real things that exist. You need a wall to protect you from boogiemen in your imagination. Don't try to compare the two.
